In December, 1779, the Royal Fusiliers travelled to the southern colonies and took part in the siege and capture of the City of Charleston in May, 1780.

In 1781, the Regiment served under Tarleton in the campaign which ended at the Battle of Cowpens. At Cowpens, the Regiment was routed and its colours were discovered among the baggage captured by the victorious army of General Daniel Morgan. Morgan had last encountered the Royal Fusiliers at Quebec in 1775. After Cowpens, the vestiges of the Regiment were transferred to New York City and avoided the final humiliation of the British Army at Yorktown. In 1783, the Regiment returned to England.

And now they are back.

Once more assembling in our town squares.

Bazenly marching down our highways and byways, the ever proud Royal Fusilers.

But will they ever learn?
Look at that STOP sign behind them!
They are on the wrong side of the road!
Can't they remember on which side we Yanks drive????
